Who goes for weird
Weird lines are for people with a slightly off-center sense of humor: the friend who sends you strange memes, the match whose bio is a non sequitur, anyone who seems bored of normal compliments.
The appeal is surprise. A good weird line makes someone stop and think "wait, what?" before they laugh. A line like the "punch you... with my lips" one starts alarming and ends harmless, and the pause does the work.
Weird is also where the votes split the most. Plenty of lines here collect nearly as many downvotes as upvotes, which tells you the reaction depends on the listener, not the line. Treat this category as high risk, high reward, and only use it when you already have a sense of the other person's humor.
Delivery: commit or skip it
In person, weird lines only work with full commitment. Say it calmly, as if it's a perfectly normal thing to say, and let the confusion turn into laughter.
Over text, weird lines are riskier because there's no smile to reassure the reader. Add a follow-up quickly ("that came out stranger than planned") or pick one where the twist is in the same message.
- Weird should mean surprising, not gross. Bodily-function lines split voters hard.
- Match the energy of their profile or conversation.
- If they bite, lean in. If they don't, switch to something normal.
The mistake to avoid
Mistaking shock for weirdness. Lines about exes, crime, or bathroom habits get attention, but not the kind that leads to a second message. The best weird lines leave someone amused and curious, not wondering whether they should block you.
